Welcome to the online presence of The Sydney Quilt Study Group currently managing The Quilt Study Group of Australia.
We are group of passionate quilt enthusiasts interested in investigating all avenues of quilt making in both the historic and contemporary arena. Included in the group are quilt makers, textile artists, historians, collectors and tutors all with a desire to learn more about quilts.
To this end, we organise several meetings each year focusing on different facets of quilt making and every other year, hold a weekend seminar where topics are discussed in more depth. Details of the meetings are listed here and non-members are always welcome.
Each year we like to hold a Show and Tell meeting where members and guests are invited to show their latest ‘finds’. Of course, we love to hear the stories behind the quilts and enjoy listening to the tales of their discovery or purchase. Several significant historic Australian quilts have been unearthed by intrepid members of the Sydney Quilt Study Group.
If you have a wonderful old quilt in your family (no matter how tattered it looks) we would love to see it at a Show and Tell meeting.
